Cannabis in its many forms are right in the spotlight at the moment, as the medical world looks for more readily available medications. However it is hemp that is gaining the most traction in the marketplace. This industrial strain of the Cannabis Sativa plant is known for its many commercial uses, including paper, textiles, clothing, plastics, paint, insulation, biofuel, animal feed, skincare and food products.

Hemp Farm focus on utilizing the whole seed for the food market, with stunning products such as their Pure Hemp Hearts and Pure Hemp Seed Oil. They are is the largest dedicated hemp company in NZ, and 100% New Zealand owned and operated. With their new Tauranga hemp food facility, they are making waves both here and abroad.

Beginning with just a handful of seeds and a massive dream, Dave Jordan set out to carve a new and vibrant industry for New Zealand. After spending most of his life outdoors, guiding on rivers, glaciers, mountains and in the bush, he decided to clean up the land and waterways with hemp for the future health and well-being of the environment. He says: “It is vitally important that we protect this precious environment that we live in, and hemp is the answer to clean up some of the damage we have done to our land and health.” Two years later, his wife Anne and her son Harley joined him on the mission. Anne’s interest is in health and nutrition. She spent most of her youth in the theatre and dance but now takes the stage promoting the benefits of hemp seed oil. She tells us more, “It is the optimal balance of essential omegas 3,6 and 9, and since your body can’t make, it you need to take it. It will have a huge impact on your energy levels, and I need that to keep up with Dave! However, it is testimonials from customers who find relief from arthritis, eczema, psoriasis, blood cholesterol and even more that is so satisfying, and keeps driving us forward”. Harley brought technical and creative expertise in design, marketing and web design, allowing HempFarm to reach out to kiwis nationwide. He says “I’m never satisfied with the status quo. My eye is always on how to do something better, quicker, simpler. I believe this approach leads to better results.”

Over the last eight years, this small family has grown HempFarm into a well-loved brand it is today. Now with their new strategic partners, they are further developing vital infrastructure for hemp harvesting, processing and production facilities for food and fibre.

Used for over 10,000 years, this miracle plant has served humanity in a myriad of ways, but especially as a rich energy source. In today’s depleted modern diet, we have seen the return of ancient grains such as quinoa and chia because we lack essential nutrients and healthy proteins.
